
Thomas William Selleck is an American actor from America. His most memorable role was as the private detective Thomas Magnum in the television series Magnum, P.I. (1980-1988), where he was nominated five times for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead actor in the Drama Series. He was awarded the award in 1985. In the TV series Blue Bloods, Selleck has been a part of the character Frank Reagan, New York City Police Commissioner. In nine television films made based on the Robert B. Parker novels Selleck played Jesse Stone, a troubled small-town police chiefwho began his career in 2005. Selleck also played the character of Peter Mitchell, a bachelor of architecture in Three Men and a Baby (1987) and Three Men and A Little Lady(1990). From the time of Magnum, P.I., his appearances have included more than 50 television roles as well as in film, such as the films Quigley Down Under, Mr. Baseball and Lassiter. He played the regular television role of Monica Geller's love interest Dr. Richard Burke and Lance White on Friends. Additionally the role of A.J. Cooper in Las Vegas. Cooper also played the lead part in the western The Sacketts, based on two of Louis L'Amour's books.Selleck is a California Army National Guard veteran and a spokesperson for the National Rifle Association (NRA) as well as an endorser on advertisements for National Review magazine, and co-founder of the Character Counts! organization.
